Joel Blythman is more than an assistant principal. At 33 years old, his outstanding leadership skills, dedication to innovative and strategic thinking and extremely organised approach have seen him take on responsibility for Lowanna College’s daily operations, international program and special programs. On an operational level, he implemented a new Student Behaviour Management System, designed to create a consistency in classroom management and a more orderly learning environment. He has also grown the international program, having successfully obtained funding for the DET Young Leaders to China Program, which will take a group of Year 9 students to China for six weeks this year. He recently oversaw a trip to a Taizhou Sister School, which resulted in a language program, and was instrumental in acquiring a Hanban teacher for a Confucius classroom program.
