Gabrielle Wilson, Toorak College
Head of Year 9
Wilson has contributed significantly to the life of Toorak College over the past two years, generating positive learning outcomes and assisting students in their personal and academic growth.
In 2019, Wilson’s students achieved outstanding VCE results, with 21% of the class receiving a study score of 40 or above in Psychology, and more than 50% of the class receiving a study score of 35 or more in Legal Studies. Wilson also posted outstanding GAT/study score “value add” results last year: +2.34 in Psychology and +1.58 in Legal Studies.
Wilson’s achievements over the past year include the launch of the new Growth Mentoring subject, which she co-designed to teach Toorak students “learn how to learn,” providing them with techniques for improving study habits, resilience, and broad academic growth. She also created an extensive Leadership Handbook for the school and worked closely with the Student Representative Council to introduce a number of initiatives that helped reach the goal of raising awareness and funds for their chosen philanthropic partner, One Girl.
Wilson is currently undertaking her Master of Education, specialising in student wellbeing, at The University of Melbourne.
