St John's Anglican College, Forest Lake, QLD
In a bid to build the college’s reputation as global learning institute, St John’s Anglican College has kicked off a new bold and innovative strategic direction that will create opportunities to respond to new challenges and initiatives to anticipate future change.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has presented St John’s with the scope to be more flexible in its educational delivery, diversify, and create opportunities within the college’s strategic enterprises. One initiative born out of the current climate, with its associated restrictions on international travel, is St John’s Home Boarding, which offers a private boarding opportunity for domestic Year 7-12 students. Under this initiative, students from regional and rural Australia can now engage in a coeducational learning experience in private boarding with St John’s long-established and trusted homestay families.
St John’s has also teamed up with University of Queensland to develop its very own wellbeing framework. The partnership seeks to investigate how St John’s current practices align with the new mission, vision, and values and contribute to positive wellbeing outcomes for staff and students. The focus of the research project is to build consistency and a common language between staff and students, identify strengths and opportunities, and evaluate staff and student wellbeing.
