Loreto College Ballarat, Ballarat, VIC
With COVID-19 transforming how people learn, communicate, and interact, Loreto College Ballarat has been working to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and attributes to navigate the constantly evolving world.
Loreto College piloted a program for Year 7 and 9 students to increase their digital literacy. Students construct a digital portfolio and set up a website where they can record their goals and achievements throughout their time at the school. This works hand in hand with the school’s formalised goal-setting program, the Goals for Growth, where students set a range of personal goals, record their progress on their website, reflect on their progress, and identify areas where they can improve.
To empower students to be become proactive, collaborative, and creative – abilities that are high valued both in industry and in business – Loreto College has researched and defined the qualities students must develop to thrive in the world of work; and is now working on a comprehensive and structured approach to integrate these qualities into the curriculum.
Further areas under development include an innovative teaching methodology, student leadership structures, electives for students, and the timetable structure. The school is also reviewing the fundamentals of the curriculum and wellbeing programs and framework.
