The King David School
In the last two decades, there have been major advancements in the field of Educational Neuroscience, thanks to the developments of imaging technology (MRI’s and FMRI’s). This has allowed scientists and researchers to carefully map brain development and function more clearly and therefore provide educators with a better understanding of the brain’s architecture. The King David School has used this knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and brain plasticity to become the first school in Australia to introduce an Executive Function Skill Development Framework into its Kindergarten. The SOWATT Framework, created and developed by Rosalyn Muir and Russell Kaplan is designed to explicitly teach and develop executive function skills in children. By being the first school in Australia, to pioneer in this area of explicitly teaching and developing children’s executive functions, The King David School is creating a strong learning foundation for children in their early years. This strong foundation will ensure a smooth transition into schooling and create a wonderful opportunity for children to be properly equipped to manage their next learning and development journey in life.
