Southport State High School
Using the eLearn Learning Management System, Southport State High School’s teaching teams have created quality assured digital courses for every subject being learned in their classrooms. The intent of this has been to improve the school’s systematic delivery of guaranteed and viable curriculum, engage students with 21st century skills needed beyond school, and maximise the progress of every student by providing them access to learning anytime/anywhere, so they can experience academic success. The school has a 1:1 BYOD program whereby Junior secondary students access eLearn on their iPads, while senior secondary students access it via laptops. This has involved an incredible effort by the school’s passionate and dedicated team. In 2019, eLearn courses now support student learning in every subject at Southport High from Year 7-12, compared to 4% in 2015. Southport has also improved consistency in curriculum delivery, teacher collaboration, student equity and student access to learning resources and support. Both students and parents have 24/7 access and interaction data indicates high level engagement. In Semester 1 2019, Year 9 eLearn courses collectively had 138,950 impressions, 29,769 outside school hours, 8,133 on a Saturday or Sunday.
