Mabel Park State High School
Mabel Park State School (MPSHS) continuously strives to be innovative and responsive to diverse student needs, 21st century skills and employment shortages to assist students to make successful transitions. The school’s rapid growth in enrolments from 615 in 2016 to 1,120 in 2019 is due to its reputation for educational excellence, connectedness for all, high expectations, enriched teaching practices and an engaging curriculum. MPSHS is adopting the philosophy that all students should exit with at least one Certificate III Qualification as research shows that this will make students more employable. The Certificate IIIs offered are in seven of the projected job growth areas. The school’s Health Training facility was in response to the projection of the Health Industry being the largest employer over the next 20 years. The Hub is the first of its kind on a school site and is unique in that different schools access one site. Approximately 350 Year 10, 11 and 12 students from 13 different schools have accessed Certificate II in Health Support Services and Certificate III in Individual Support over the past four years. More than 80% of these students have continued on a positive pathway in Health.
