Glenmore State High School
Glenmore has been selected as one of only two state high schools in Queensland to trial an important innovation in flexible learning, known as a FlexiSpace. This model – the first of its kind in Australia – allows schools to create a physical space offering a more flexible in-school learning environment to help engage and retain every student to fulfil their potential in a mainstream educational setting. In less than a year, every student who accessed the FlexiSpace has seen positive results, including improvement in attendance rates, academic achievement, confidence, and a willingness to participate in school life. This innovative and student-centred approach has seen school attendance increase from an average of 73% to 81% while the number of student disciplinary absences declined by 50% while students were accessing the FlexiSpace. The FlexiSpace environment has helped nurture relationships between students and their teachers.
