Canterbury College Waterford
The College’s Year 8 Integrated project sees five curriculum areas combining on a task that gets students to design a product that is environmentally friendly and solves a problem in society. The project embraces creative and critical thinking and challenges students to question today’s ‘throw-away’ society. To present their solutions, students can choose to use augmented reality to show their prototype in the real world or 3D print their prototype to show a judging panel. To help best prepare students for their future pathways there have been some exciting additions to the curriculum map including subjects such as Philosophy and Logic, Industrial Engineering and Digital technology and Media in Year 7. All classes in the Secondary school at Canterbury are using Microsoft Teams, promoting 24/7 access to learning. The conversation space allows the subject discussion to go on after the students have left the physical class and the notifications mean that students are up to date and well informed about class information. With Microsoft Innovative Educator Experts on staff, there are weekly Technology tool sessions offered to teachers to give them the ability to use the Digital tools needed in an innovative community of learners.
