Bethany Lutheran Primary School
Each term at Bethany Lutheran Primary School, all year level teams share their identified curriculum and ideas for implementation. From there, all other teams provide ideas, resources and suggestions to help build their Project Based Learning units. In the following week, each team shares a refined unit of work and seeks feedback on how to further improve their unit. Another initiative, ‘Find Out Fridays’, sees staff invited to pick an area of interest to share with students. The teacher pitches this idea to all of the students in Years 1-6 who can then choose one of the following subjects, based on what they feel most passionate or interested about: Lego, Imagination Play, Food Techniques, ArtVenture, AUSLAN (Sign Language), Coding, Gardening, Photography, Puzzles, Writing & Illustrating, Running & Stretching, Ball Games and Japanese. All of these activities focus on the building of lifelong skills, including collaboration, creativity, communication and critical thinking. Through this innovative practice, the staff have noticed an improved motivation and enthusiasm at the end of the week as they engage in their chosen activity.
