Samantha Reynolds has led a number of innovative programs at the St. Stephen’s College, including the development of enterprise education, STEAM, and interdisciplinary projects, many of which have been running for more than a decade.
Reynolds initiated a multidisciplinary approach to teaching which focuses on pracademia, and engages extensively with the broader community, in order to provide the students with the opportunity to make connections now and in their futures. As a pracademic, she encourages students to be innovators through critical thinking, creative thinking, communication, collaboration, and teamwork personal and social skills with a balance of ICT skills, through a discovery process. Collaborative projects include Future Millionaires Challenge, Money Money Money, and Don’t Get Started Get Ready – intrapreneurship programs that connect to students to local businesses. Last year also saw Reynolds implementing the Wearable Art and Design Show. Now in its 11th year, the STEAM initiative, blends up to seven subjects into one final project.
