Australia’s educators have rallied behind the inaugural Australian Education Awards, with an overwhelming response to the call for nominations.
Hosted by The Educator, the event celebrates the achievements of the education profession, from the individual teachers, department heads and principals, to the curriculums and programs that are driving innovation.
The Educator received strong responses in all categories, with a particularly enthusiastic showing for Teacher of the Year, Department Head of the Year, and the school making the Best Use of Technology.
Nominations will now go through a rigorous vetting process by The Educator’s team. Finalists will be announced on Monday 4 June in The Educator and online at www.educatorawards.com .
The Educator editor Tim Garrett commented on the upcoming event.
“Since launching in November 2014, we have been overwhelmed by the sector’s response to The Educator. Today, our team remains dedicated to delivering education leaders the news that they need to know and to recognising the efforts of those at the top of their field.
“I am excited that The Educator will this year present the inaugural Australian Education Awards in Sydney – an evening devoted entirely to celebrating excellence in education.“
Shortlisted educators and schools will be asked to complete a finalist submission. Their submissions will then be assessed by an independent panel of judges comprising education industry leaders and senior representatives.
Winners in all categories will be announced at a black-tie gala at Dockside, Sydney on Friday 17 August. Readers interested in booking a table to celebrate with their peers can do so online here.
