Project: Molecular Horizons Facility
As part of its undergoing major digital transformation, the University of Wollongong has launched The Molecular Horizons Research Facility, which applies data-mining and machine-learning across massive datasets to deliver health analytics and molecular visualisation.
The world-leading research has been established through the collaboration between UOW’s IT and research teams, as well as through UOW investment in a suite of revolutionary technology, including two of Australia’s most powerful biological electron microscopes, the Titan Krios Cryogenic Electron Microscopy (Cryo-EM) microscope.
The molecular research at UOW is on a mission to prevent the currently predicted outcome of upwards of 10 million deaths per year and US$100 trillion in lost productivity due to antimicrobial resistance, by providing a technology framework to deliver medicine for the future.
