Shaun Brennecke, University of Melbourne

Shaun Brennecke is the University of Melbourne Dunbar Hooper chair of obstetrics and gynaecology at the Royal Women's Hospital. He is also head of the Pregnancy Research Centre at the hospital and an Obstetric Team Leader within the hospital’s Maternity Care clinical service. Brennecke’s research focuses on maternal-fetal medicine, especially preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, placental function, preterm labour, reproductive tissue stem cells, miscarriage, the endocrinology of human pregnancy and parturition, the assessment of fetal welfare, and factors influencing maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality. He has been awarded Officer in the General Division, Order of Australia on Australia Day 2020, in recognition of his long-standing contribution to women’s health through research, medical education, and professional societies.
