Calum Drummond, RMIT University
deputy vice chancellor research and innovation, and vice president
Calum Drummond has been transforming the research, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem in RMIT University, to support a highly productive academic workforce and orchestrate well-articulated research translation pathways. One of his many significant initiatives is the creation of RMIT’s Enabling Capability Platforms (ECPs), which bring together researchers from across the entire university to create enhanced sources of value to others beyond the academic community. These ECPs drive impact in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship and serve as focal points for strategic partnerships with industry players and government.
Last year, Drummond was appointed as an Officer of the Order of Australia, for his distinguished service to chemistry and materials science research, to commercialisation initiatives, and as a mentor. He was also listed in The Educator’s inaugural Higher Education (HE) 2019 Hot List. More recently, he has been recognized Lifetime Achievement in Entrepreneurship in the 2020 ACEEU Asia-Pacific Triple E Awards on Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence in Higher Education.
