Flinders University is one more than 35 universities excited to be taking part in the ConocoPhillips Science Experience.
The event is comprised of three days of interactive activities on campus, with hands on workshops, lectures, fun activities, quizzes and competitions, for students in Years 9 and 10.
A press release from the University states: “Each program is designed to provide students who have an interest in science with an opportunity to engage in a wide range of fascinating science activities under the guidance of scientists who love their work.”
The event is a great way for students from various regions (and especially regional students) to interact and to learn from peers and academic stars.
“Participants perform experiments in the laboratories, meet and hear senior lecturers in the lecture theatres, attend site visits and walk around and experience what it is like to be on the campus of a university or tertiary institution. More than 65,000 students have taken this rare opportunity, up to date.”
The program is a great way of encouraging youngsters to consider different pathways into science careers, and to bring the gap between aspiration and reality.
Social activities and BBQs sit side by side with learning experiences, to make for a well rounded and inspiring three days.
